Class Information
All classes are designed for you to practise within your own capabilities, regardless of age or physical abilities.
 
Style of teaching
Classes are based on the classical Hatha Yoga postures, with an element of partial poses to prepare the body.
The classes integrate exercises that are easily practised slowly developing A combination of static and dynamic postures which are taught in a flow style. Practises are used to help develop a more  mindful approach to life and develop self awareness, opening the doors to being more in the Now. You will learn important breathing skills(pranayama) to help overcome anxiety, insomnia and create more energy that you can use anytime anywhere when required.  Meditation and Yoga nidra (relaxation), is incorporated to bring the wholeness and balance to the class.

This class incorporates the basic principles that teach postural alignment and self awareness using Hatha Yoga postures, integration of the breath with movement, core stability and relaxation with an introduction to meditation.
Hatha Yoga class
From the basic principles you are extended to further develop the practices to a more intermediate and advanced level of Yoga.  This includes more classical poses including (PNF), advanced (pranayama) breathing methods, meditation, visualisation and Yoga Philosophy.  All levels of experience can commence in this class, however a beginner's course is recommended prior to attending.
 
Back care Program - Starts February
A New class designed for anyone with continual back and neck pain.  You will learn specific practices along with learning relaxation and pain management. The course is based on my seventeen years of Remedial therapy. Yoga and Stretch Therapy..  It is especially useful for specific conditions that have developed as a result of injury or ongoing muscular problems  and is complementry to the hatha yoga asanas.
 The course will run for six weeks and will include a one on one review and the class size will be small.

Reconnective Yoga - Next Introductory Workshop - March
Reconnective Yoga is a new practice now being brought into the Yoga class.Classes are a combination of Hatha Yoga Postures, meditation - pranayama -  joined with Reconnective Healing. During the class you are encouraged to feel and access the energy or frequecies during some of the practises, before and during the class.  While practicing this way the student tends to feel more "connected" supported and relaxed and are able to hold and go further into the posture, with ease. At the end of every class you also are able to relax whie the teacher connects to the healing frequencies so you can allow deeper healing to take place. It is Yoga and  healing combined to create a powerful practice.

Meditation is becoming well known for its health benefits.  Understanding who you are and accepting your wholeness and greatness is fundamental to your health and wellbeing.  Meditation is possibly the most honest and clear way to acheive this. Our mind comprises of an ego and a soul or inner self.  For most part we are operating from the ego level unable to connect with the wisest part of ourselves, our true nature, that part that knows all we will ever need to know.  We live constantly at the demands of life and those around us.  If we can find our centre and live from there our life opens into unlimited possiblilties. Possiblities of more happiness and peace, a deeper understanding of ourselves and others, we begin to align ourselves to our deep purpose.
Through learning the fundamentals of Meditation and Yoga we can have a place of reference to return to when our life throws itself out of balance, when pain and suffering sets in we have somewhere to go to find the answers.
 
The Meditation courses present various practises to help you to discover and experience the place of the inner self.  The breath plays an important role in finding your inner self, and the course covers various breathing practises that will enliven you as well as create states of tranquility and peace.. Attitudes and behavious are our stumbling blocks at times, once known we can recognise those attitudes that create problems and shift over to attitudes that are helpful to our health and wellbeing. Learning to be more mindful in each and every moment, learning to trust yourself and life. Understanding there is more to our lives than we can sometimes see brings about a life where you are living with excitement and purpose. Bringing more love and happiness into your lives and those around you is your birthright. Each one of us effects the whole, the more we live from our true self we benefit ourselves as well as those we work with, live with and love with, it is healing the whole world.

Meditation/Relaxation Workshops -

These courses are held throughout the year. The course uses discussion along with simple practises to help you set a foundation for a Meditation practise.  You will be introduced to the principles and practises of meditation using mindfulness, and a variety of Meditation tools to assist you with your individual practise that you can commence at home.  It will involve simple stretches to release tension.  Breath awareness and practises to rejuvenate, calm and centre, and an understanding of the ever-changing world in which we live.  It also includes the importance of Restoration in the form of Yoga Nidra (Relaxation exercise - an important aspect to the new journey into meditation)
 
Once known a different approach to your daily life can be introduced.  The benefits are a heighten sense of self, greater acceptance, clarity of mind and a balanced emotional state leading you to live in the present moment.  You may choose to sit on the floor or in a chair.  Please bring a blanket, cushion or meditation stool. A smile inside your comfortable clothes is essential.
